Austin Dovin
Austin was born and raised in Kirksville, Missouri. He and his wife Alicia moved to Colorado Springs in 2021. Austin has a bachelor’s degree in History from Truman State University and a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He started serving in ministry in 2015 as Student Pastor at First Baptist Church Kirksville. He also pastored bi-vocationally at Elmer Baptist Church and Springfield Baptist Church while completing seminary.
Austin Loves to read, go biking, hiking, fishing, and hanging out with his wife and their Golden Retriever Zoey and cat Zia. He is a huge St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He’ll gladly watch them beat the Broncos with you twice a year!
Evan Clay moved to Colorado Springs from sunny SoCal in 2014 and quickly found a place to serve at what was Circle Drive Baptist Church playing drums on the worship team with former worship pastor Joel Taylor. He grew to love the people at Circle and joined membership with the church in 2016, steadily increasing his ministry involvement as the church became Redemption Hill. By 2018, Evan started producing social media content and taking up photography and videography for the church’s ministry efforts. He met and married the love of his life, Jessica, in 2020 and joined staff as the Creative Director in 2021.
Evan and Jessica live in Colorado Springs and have two children. In his free time, Evan loves spending time with his family, photography, music, eating Mexican food, watching the Rockies, race cars, and going to the movies.
Maria and her family moved to Colorado Springs in 2021 from Ft. Benning, Georgia. Maria was raised in a religious home, but later came to realize something was missing in her life. God graciously placed a Christian woman in her life that shared the true Gospel with her, and she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Maria and her husband Jake have been married 15 years and have 7 kids, 6 of which are still at home! She is a full-time student online at GCU, studying for her Master’s in Psychology. When she’s not studying, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her family and other believers, working out, and reading a good book! Her life’s verse is Phil. 2:3.
Al Barrera is a Colorado Native, called out from a career as a Journeyman Electrician, and has worked since 2001 in various forms of Ministry Leadership. In the past, Al has served as a College Pastor, Young Adults Minister, Senior Pastor, a Church Planter, and most recently as a Church Planting Catalyst for the North American Mission Board. Having received all of his formal Christian education in Colorado, Dr. Al Barrera completed his Doctorate of Ministry degree with Gateway Seminary, Rocky Mountain Campus.
Al and his wife of 20+ years, Marcy, live with their four beautiful daughters just outside of Colorado Springs. As a lifelong baseball and football fan, Al inherited a passion for both the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He is equally passionate about French cuisine (butter), the history of the Old West, and hunting and fishing or any excuse to get into the mountains. He is overwhelmingly passionate about being surrounded by all of his girls (including their Golden Retriever, Chili) and spending time together.
Sue has been with Redemption Hill since May of 2015 and helps the Adult Impact Ministries in addition to her work in the business office. Sue, and her late husband Mark, moved here from Jacksonville, FL when Mark became the Worship Pastor at First Evangelical Free Church (FEFC). Together they were in ministry for over 35 years in various churches around the country. Sue has five children, six grandchildren, and one Apricot Westiepoo named Shiloh. Her oldest Son, Zachary, is now the Worship Pastor at FEFC, following in dad’s footsteps! One of her favorite verses for this time in her life is Romans 12:12, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Sue loves all kinds of music, sailing, any kind of craft and traveling to see her family.
Carl was born in Oklahoma City and was adopted at the age of five days old. He is ever-so-grateful his adopted family was Christian and Southern Baptist! His mother led him to the Lord at the age of five. He was raised in Florida and Georgia (go Dawg’s) and appreciates a good use of the term “y'all.” Upon graduation from high school, Carl worked in construction and then proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. Carl recently retired after working for the same employer for thirty-nine years. Carl’s favorite pastimes are reading history (the older, the better), Old Testament historical and geographical studies, overseas mission trips, and spending time with the love of his wife AnnaLee.
Carl joined membership with Redemption Hill Church in 1996. His service motto is Senior Adults, who have experienced much and have much to offer, are the backbone of the local church. Carl’s passion is spending time with Redemption Hill Senior Adults, laboring together in service (and fun) to Jesus Christ.
Tyler Palmer is a native of Colorado Springs, and has been a member of Redemption Hill since her childhood. Tyler joined Redemption Hill staff in 2023 accepting the role of Nursery and Preschool Director. When Tyler was 12 years old she was born again, and soon after she was baptized.
Tyler and her husband Jasson have 4 children whom she homeschools. In addition to serving as the Nursery and Preschool Director, Tyler leads the Cubbies for our AWANA program. God has surely given her a love for children and the desire to nurture them in the faith.
In her free time, Tyler enjoys spending time with her husband and children and with their extended families, playing board games, hiking, working out, camping, hunting and cheering on Jasson and the kids while they play disc golf, and go on ice fishing tournaments. Tyler loves people and enjoys meeting new families who attend Redemption Hill.
Ian joined the staff in January of 2018. He has attended Redemption Hill Church since he was 13 years old and was called to ministry in his early 20s. He got his B.A. in Christian Ministry at The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a Colorado native and loves the city of Colorado Springs. In 2019 Ian married the love of his life, Amy. Together they are serving the church and doing their best to be a great team for Christ.

Ross has been the Student Pastor at The Hill for more than 10 years. He was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating high school in '97 he attended Ouachita Baptist University where he graduated with a BA in Speech Communications. While at Ouachita he met the love of his life Natalie. After college they were married and God soon moved them to Shreveport to serve at Broadmoor Baptist Church. He served there for almost 5 years as the Middle School Student Pastor before God opened the door for them to serve at RHC in 2008.
Ross and Natalie have three kids: Colton, Rylan and Merrak. When he is not at the church he is with them. As a family they love to hike, play and hang out at home. Ross is a die-hard New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers fan. Don’t hate! He is an avid Coke drinker, cajun food eater and lover of bacon!
Mike came to Redemption Hill in February 2002. He serves as a visionary leader, and is currently leading the church through a total campus relocation. In his ministry, he loves preaching, teaching, and coaching/mentoring “younger guys” in the ministry. He also greatly loves the people he serves, those who are called “Redemption Hill.” The church family affectionately calls him “Dr. Mike” because of his earned doctorate from Southern Seminary in Louisville.
Mike loves hiking in Colorado, whether it be on a trail with his wife or a 14,000+ ft. mountain with members of the 14er club from “The Hill” (he has hiked 30 of them so far). He also enjoys “diving into” a good steak, occasionally munching on a bag of potato chips, and eating at any Chick-Fil-A. He is the husband of Kathy, the father of Rachel, Holly (Scott), and LeeAnn (Jack), and is incredibly blessed to be “papa” to Daniel, CJ (Caleb Jackson), Liam and Brenlee. Mike is also a HUGE fan of University of Kentucky basketball, loves to read (especially books about leadership, history and biographies), and enjoys working out at a local gym. His life’s verses are Philippians 3:13-14.
